Emotional Intelligence and Anger Management
Emotional intelligence is an important factor in learning to successfully recognize and manage anger. EQ is the ability to recognize how you and those around you are feeling. It helps to identify emotions in music, and art. It increases one’s ability to discuss and communicate emotions clearly and directly.
Closely related to EQ is empathy. Empathy is the ability to empathize with, feel compassion for, validate, motivate, inspire, encourage and soothe others. Being emotional, and being able to use your emotions may also help you to understand how someone else feels, or to take emotional sides.
Persons who practice skills in emotional intelligence are far more likely to respond slowly and deliberately when examining their own feelings of irritability, fatigue, anxiety, depression, stress and other precursors of anger.
Participants in anger management classes learn to make intelligent decisions using a healthy balance of emotion and reason. When one is angry or in a state of rage, it is impossible to make rational decisions based on the fact that critical reasoning is impaired. It is best to be neither too emotional nor too rational. Considering multiple perspectives is another part of Emotional Intelligence.
Learning to listen compassionately to the feelings, needs and wishes of others and communicating verbally and/or non-verbally your understanding is a skill which enhances your relationship with yourself as well as others. This is commonly referred to a “listening with your heart”.
Consciously regulating your emotions or a least the expression of negative emotions tends to elicit a calming influence on those to whom you wish to relate.
The real beauty of emotional intelligence is that anyone at any age can develop the capacity to improve his or her emotional intelligence. Most anger management classes include anger management, stress management, communication and emotional. In reality, managing negative emotions is critical in mastering emotional intelligence and is quickly recognized by participants in anger management/executive coaching classes.

We have to learn to manage our anger because if we can't manage it we can have serious problems. If we don't have a strong personality we can fall in the drugs world and then we will need an drug treatment. We have to do something with our anger for our safe.

I think the real beauty of emotional intelligence is that anyone at any age can develop the capacity.
I can’t give enough kudos to this concept - Emotional Intelligence. I’m continually trying to learn how to be a good coworker and leader, primarily by going this route. It really differentiates between management and leadership.

It is very important that we all are aware of our emotional side but we should not make decisions based upon how we feel emotionally. I would hope that while in the work place we do not run solely off of our emotions.

EVERYONE wants to be happy. But, when you don't know how to "be happy" you will, by default, be unhappy and angry all the time... whether you express it outwardly or not. Unlike the vast majority of therapist and counselors, I do not simply give my clients a few "psychological tricks" to deal with their anger or help them to better "suppress" it. But rather, I try to help them recover their ability to be happy in the midst of whatever is going on (and with whomever) in their lives.
